When to go and what to do in Mexico?
My brother is going to study in mexico city from February to June, so I will go there for 2 weeks (not 2 weeks in mexico city, I want to move!). When would be the best period to go (I want to avoid the hurricanes and spring break students...), and what should I absolutely see? I'd love to see archeologic sites, which ones are the best? And of course, couple of day at the sea! And if you know some good places to stay for the night (cheaper as possible, I don't really care about comfort, but I would love little places in the jungle for example), let me know! Muchas Gracias from Belgium!

Do you realize how big Mexico is? I think you might want to consult a tavel agent. Meanwhile, our favourite part of Mexico is the Yukatan peninsula...(South of Cancun) it has beaches, jungle and ruins. But it is a long way from Mexico city. It is also very affordable - ask about an "all inclusive" resort.

Mexico as the others said is big and diverse. You can see Native Peoples, Ancient ruins, International cities, Oceans, Deserts. Try this website: all about Mexico.com might be a start. you should do some research on your own. Spring break is spring break here in the US so you have to be the judge when to not go or avoid the students. If you would like to get out of the cold go in February and if you want to be out of the tourist season go May & June... Have fun...

There are lots a good places to visit in Mexico City. The Zocalo and the canals of Xochimilco, Zona Rosa, La Condesa to name a couple. Teotihuacan is a great archiological site very close to Mexico City (Chichen Itza is another great one in the Yucatan). There are other beautiful cities rich in tradition you could visit like Guanajuato, Querétaro, Guadalajara. You can drive there or you can also find affordable flights within Mexico via Interjet or Volaris. As far as beaches there are the obvious Cancun, Acapulco, and Puerto Vallarta, but there are several others that are just as beautiful and less hassle. Closest to Mexico City is Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo, but there is also Veracruz, and Playa del Carmen and several other beach cities along the Riveriera Maya. 2 weeks will go by very fast, I would just try to do a coupel things and really enjoy them rather than cram a bunch of things and places and not getting the whole experience. A good thing to do is have your brother get recommendations from his school, they can give you good info as to safety and good times to go.

What is the SAT scores minimum required for an international student?
What is the SAT scores minimum required for an international student?
Hello ! I have just received my TOEFL and SAT scores, I have applied to the University of Texas at Austin and to the College of William and Mary. My scores are : TOEFL = 87 / 120 SAT = 1390 / 2400 My SAT scores may be lower than the average, but I have a strong application (volunteer work in Africa and in different music festivals, sports, artistic skills, Latin and Greek studies and I speak French, Dutch and English... and I come form Europe with a green card) Do you think that I can hope to be admitted to one of those universities ? One more question : I sent my official transcripts 3-4 weeks ago from Belgium to US, and they are still in progress (and I totally don't know when they will arrive); I have already scanned and sent them to the universities, but it is not the "official" way... Do you think that it might not incline in my favor ? Thank a lot !

Most schools don't have a minimum.... but yes, your SAT score is a bit low. UT Austin and CWM are both competitive schools and they will be looking for scores closer to 2000, but you may be able to make up for your low scores if your grades are excellent. If you really want to go to school in the United States, you should look into some less competitive schools. You HAVE to send your transcripts the official way. They will not look at your application if you have sent scanned copies of your transcripts.

Question about People to People Student Ambassador program?
Question about People to People Student Ambassador program?
I recently got a letter inviting me to a 2012 summer trip to Ireland, Wales, England, Belgium and the Netherlands. I've heard the trips are from 2-6 thousand but does anybody know the cost of this particular trip? Also how did I get selected? I heard teachers nominated you(I'm in grade 11). How long is this trip? The website I went to didn't give specific info. Also What are some great ways to raise money? I'm looking for a job but right now its hard to find one. I really want to go on this trip. Do you pick who to share a room with or do they choose for you? Also I heard that just because I got this letter it does not mean I'm accepted. Like I have to go to an interview or something. How does that work if that's true?

I'm a Canadian student with average marks who wants to teach abroad?
I'm a Canadian student with average marks who wants to teach abroad?
I'm currently in grade 12 at a Canadian high school; I get decent marks but they're not spectacular, I get mainly 70's and low-ish 80's. I could get better marks but I don't apply myself in school that well. I really want to become an English teacher and do some teaching abroad. I'm currently taking 2 IB courses, IB French and IB english, and I'm doing fairly well in both of them. As I said, I hope to teach abroad someday; my ideal goal is to travel to France or Belgium and teach English to children whose primary language is French, as I am quite fluent in French. Thing is, as I mentioned previously, my other marks aren't that great. Can someone tell me if I have any chance of being a teacher, and if I do can you recommend some good Canadian Universities?

You are Canadian wanting to teach abroad in France or Belgium, my question is, why are you asking under the United States yahoo questions?
2 :
Yes you can still become a teacher but i would really recommend looking into teaching english as a foreign language. The one i know is called tefl, its cheap to get certified and it pays for itself. Basically after training a school board from a foreign country will contact your tefl rep and then if your chosen they will fly you out to said country and you do a six month stint teaching english. This looks fantastic on a resume and they also pay for you and your expenses and then even some extra.
