I went to Australia in 2004 with People to People. It was great, I had so much fun. It is definitely worth the money. I had a lot of fun, but my only complaints are that we did not stay in the places too long, and we went on a tour right after we got off of the plane.

I want to be a foriegn exchange student for a summer program. How do i apply?
I want to go to one of the following countries: Belgium, France, or Germany. I don't want to go during the school year because i don't want to miss any school and have to make it up. Where should I register? And if you have been a student to a different country, tell me about it.

What is a good gift for a foreign exchange student?

What is a good gift for a foreign exchange student?
My friend has a foreign exchange student staying at her house and I am trying to think of a gift for her. She is from Belgium and has become very close to my group of friends. People have already given her scrapbooks and I am trying to come up with something original. Any suggestions? We are in Michigan.

funny, but i currently live in Belgium... can you add in your question, where are you from?
2 :
A framed picture of you and her maybe?
3 :
a t-shirt- USA, Michigan or the school they are attending here.
4 :
A U of M tshirt! Keep in mind that her bags will probably already be full and that weight is an issue. Think small or flat, and definitely lightweight, or something that she can wear. Real maple syrup or Sander's Hot Fudge might be a good choice, though it would violate my rule about weight, could not be a carry on due to security rules and giving anything chocolate to someone from Belgium is risky, I suppose. A goody bag for the trip home with socks to keep her feet warm on the plane, American magazines and favorite snacks would probably be warmly received. (No liquids, of course.) Because the 4th of July is coming up you might find something cute with stars and stripes. To my surprise, something that has been a big hit with exchange students is a "Build a Bear" - she would have to carry it on, but nobody has had to leave one behind yet.

Belgium is a friendly place, and most people in Belgium are happy to meet strangers. But as the new kid on the school, it might be up to you to make friends, as all the other have build social networks already. How easy people talk English depends on which part of Belgium you go to, as in Flanders English is wider spoken by all people. In the south, French is the local language, but like the French of Quebec, the French of Belgium is not the same as that of Paris. All young people get English in school, so it is likely that they are able and willing to talk with you in your own language. Whether you find many young people partying depends on the school, in some towns they will, in others they will not. Much like Canada, I am sure. But going out for a few beers is a normal thing in Belgium, and there is a lot of choice in beers and at the age of 16 you can drink them. For strong alcoholic drinks the age is 18. If you have more questions, please try to add more details, like which part of Belgium you go to, and maybe whether you speak any of the local languages, as first or second language. And for us Europeans, please explain grade 12, we do count different, I think. In any case, we can not be sure how you count grades even if the country does count the same way.
